FOUR WHEELS

April 3 El Paso to Del Rio 412 miles
We rented a van, loaded our Twos-day rig and set out for Del Rio. Part of the decision was based also on wanting to hear conference and the difficulty of finding a church building in this part of TX that coincides with our route. We had thought we would stay put in El Paso for conference but that would have been even one extra day of no progress so we hit the road with four wheels instead of two and did the Davis Mountains, Marathon, Sanderson, Van Horn route in seven hours instead of seven days. ( WT sisters: Going over that route again helped me realize what an awesome experience we had! ) We're both anxious to get to greener country and are looking forward to seeing the blue bonnets in eastern Texas and riding the Great Rivers route going up the Mississippi. And of course getting revitalized by our grandchildren.
Come Monday morning we'll be "On the Road Again"!

I am just amazed at your resilience, tenacity, and endurance! When I first heard what the 2 of you were doing my thought was that you are stronger people than I. However, I absolutely love reading your experiences! I would love to do something just as adventurous one of these days! Thank you so much for sharing and I am glad you could go by 4 wheels for a while! Ride safely!

Some people at our house say that you cheated. But, I told them that until they have put in several hundred miles on their bikes, they are not allowed to pass judgement. I think it is great that you are back "on schedule" and able to watch conference. Keep safe!!

I say, "WooHoo!" Enjoy your rest. I hope you enjoyed conference today--I did.

I wouldn't need the excuse of conference to transfer to four wheels! It's a good reason though.
Let's hear it for green scenery! I never take our green for granted.
Love ya!

Am I to believe that, after averaging 40 to 50 miles per day, you went 412 miles on April 3rd? You're either REALLY motivated, or lieing! :-) If you are in East Texas now, you are in my (Jo, RV'ers from Tillicum Beach) territory. We left Texas in March '07 with the Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush in full bloom. Enjoy the wildflowers! What an amazing adventure you're on!
