This morning Rusty woke up cold and "DONE". "Done" is what we say when we are done. Ready to go home. The last couple of nights/mornings had been cold in the tent so Rusty was done. HOWEVER, after riding about 12 miles on the Avenue of the Giants he was on a high! Cancel the trip home for now.
I drove 12 miles out to Meyer's Flats and decided to ride the bike back to meet Rusty. I rode six, them seven and then eight miles and realized that I had missed him entirely so I rode back and he was waiting for me at the car. He had stopped at a visitor's center and I missed him!. We've got to work out a system here. After meeting up, Rusty rode on to Phillipsville another 12 miles..Then from Phillipsville we tag teamed and I rode 16 miles with my grannies doing 10 miles climb on the Freeway. Total 24 miles for Rusty and 31 for me.. Neither one of us has yet reach the estimated 50 miles/day to reach Jacob Lake on the bike....Willie is supplementing in some miles for now. After this first week of conditioning we'll get more miles in on the bike, I'm sure.
Rusty's thoughts for the day: "The redwoods are so amazing! So big and SOO BIG! No forest like that. Amazing grandeur!"
