SATURDAY IN NAUVOO

May 23, 0 miles

Slept in. Ate two breakfasts before leaving for the temple at 11:00. (I have been so hungry!) We had a peaceful wonderful time in the temple and then went over to the Visitor's Center for the Young Performing Missionaries production of "High Hopes & Riverboats". Another great production this time taken from actual journals of people who had lived in Nauvoo. Music and dancing added to make it fun, catchy and thought provoking. How did the saints do it when they were forced to leave their beautiful city in the dead of winter after just six years! Even though the production was positive and uplifting I couldn't help but ponder how difficult it must have been. I love Nauvoo for what it represents. Yesterday at the visitor's center, One of the sister missionaries reminded us that Nauvoo was built because of belief in The Savior and the saints left it because of their belief in Him. She invited us to ponder the strength that brought to the saints and we too could have that strength to "cross our own Rocky Mountains."

This evening we took our bikes out on the lawn and cleaned off the grime and slime that has accumulated over the last 1,156 miles!!! Our bikes have become great friends...well, mine has. Rusty says he's not to that relationship yet. Maybe after another 400 miles. We'll see.
