DYERSBURG TO UNION CITY

May 7 Thursday

40 miles

That tube Rusty repaired Monday? Well at about about ten miles out it was really soft. No pampering it along. We had to change it out there on the hwy. Because it wasn't the right size it had gotten pinched. This is when the real test of "Are We Having Fun Yet?" comes. Resorting through the tubes we found one that was closer to the right size but still not perfect. After comparing our different pit stop methods and working together we did the Switch-O! Change-O! and were on the road again. This tube is working great.
We ate dinner tonight at the Catfish Galley where they"make catfish a meal to remember". We both had grilled catfish fillet Cajun style and I had my first Hushpuppies ever. I've heard a lot about them since being in the south but this is the first time they were offered. Look like donut holes. The texture is kind of like a cake donut but has some different spices. I really like them. I'm getting into this Southern cooking. I'd better hurry up and ride myself on out of here before the Southern calories catch up with me, too.
We've had to do some juggling of miles again to be at a decent sized town for Sunday. We're planing on riding into Kentucky tomorrow and then Illinois Saturday to be in Cairo IL for church. Hope to camp at a civil war campground on the Mississippi River tomorrow night.
