July 6-8 "TIME OUT TO BE TOURISTS" (Zion's Natl Park, St. George and Bryce Canyon)

Rusty had been to Zion's and Bryce before but even tho I grew up in the Northwest and traveled to Utah multiple times as a youth and with my own family I had never been to Zion's National Park or Bryce Canyon!  We took a couple of days off to enjoy the majesty and wonder of these  creations and also to visit with some dear friends in St. George.
Beside the beauty  and the marvel of the area it was great hearing the accents of the visitors and chatting with families.  We met people from Holland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, Japan and MILWAUKIE OREGON!!!  (the husband graduated from my HS alma mater Milwaukie High School!  Go Mustangs!) Perhaps more "foreigners" than locals.
Stayed at Mt. Carmel Junction in a motel for our Saturday night baths and Sunday cleanup. We think we might have been over charged because we shared our room with  an army of ants and we  had to wake the manager at 6:30 Sunday morning  for some help with the "plumbing".
Sunday morning we drove  abt an hour and a half to St. George to go to church with Dean and Elaine Christensen, friends with whom we had served...sort of...in South Africa.  They were the SAMTC President while we were there .  We met them originally at the Provo MTC as we were both beginning our missions.  The SAMTC was just thru a door from the SAJM office.  We usually found daily reasons to visit back and forth.
While we were in St. George we also visited with some dear friends from our Washington DC Temple Mission:  David & Gayle Brough, Leon & Dorothy Blake, Alan & Verla Jones.  Eternal Friends!  We felt like Alma as he rejoiced upon meeting his friends The Mosiah brothers ..(.Alma 17:2-3)

We were ahead of schedule and I wanted more miles so after being tourists at Bryce canyon Monday  we drove to Panquitch and camped at an RV park for $10.  Planning to ride from Panquitch back to Mt. Carmel Tuesday.
