JULY 1,2013 "SELECTIVE RIDING" (Eureka Nevada to Ely)

My turn to ride and I did 54 miles with some "selective riding".
Started by riding out of Eureka and up over Pinto Summitt elev 7,351 but started out from Eureka at abt 7,000 so I don't get much credit for that one!  Then rode over Pancake Summit elev 6,521 after dropping down to abt 6,000. Rode on for  a total of 30 miles and then did some selective riding.
There were two more summits, Little Antelope 7,438 and Robinson 7,588 which we drove to the top and then I cycled down and out until the next climb. Wait!  That's not as easy as it sounds!
Total miles for today 54 miles out of 74 to Ely. (will include a pic of the elevation panel from the map).  A look at the elevation panel is the only way one can really appreciate those summits. Or of course, riding them.
The weather was not quite as hot.  After about 35 miles the temp dropped from 93 down to 80 and then later up to 88.  Cloud cover came in and even some rain.  Aaaaaah!  It was very welcome!
Rusty & Willie were my support and encouragement today.  It makes a big difference to have them waiting at the 5 or 10 mile mark.
We are staying in the Ely KOA for $25!  A beautiful spot with thick green grass and juniper trees in the tent area.
After setting up our tent we decided that we needed to celebrate crossing over the border in to California which we hadn't done yet!!  We had ice cream at McDonalds!  In a few days it will be "Border Crossing Celebration time" going in to Utah!!!
