We certainly had the opportunity to experience a wide range of campgrounds and motels. Interesting how the amenities AND prices differ! We paid $0 for a campground with a shower and $14 for one without. We paid $20 for a KOA with shower, laundry, pool, hot tub and $40 for a motel with only a bed, shower and one light bulb. There's the motel that serves warm cookies at the desk and waffles, eggs, sausage, juice and yogurt for breakfast with a guest laundry AND a guest computer for just ten dollars more. Then there's the B&B's....one with 840 sq. ft and breakfast served in your room upon request and the one with arbitrary serving time in the dining room and the 12 X 12 room. Very charming but $50 dollars more a night....ackkkk!
So as one rides along the Mississippi River Trail be prepared for a variety of accommodations, prices and experiences along the way. After riding fifty some miles either flat or up hill, as long as it all came down to a good nights rest for two weary bike riders it seemed to be worth whatever the price!
