EACH DAY A NEW ADVENTURE

March 25, Duncan to Lordsburg 37 miles

Each day brings a new adventure and this day it was a flat tire about half way into the ride. We had stopped for lunch and picked up one of those infamous New Mexico goat head thorns which are the reason for the thorn proof tubes they sell in this state. And even more exciting that just a flat tire was that we couldn't get the stems on the spares we had bought to fit in the pump. Georgia had brought along two extras that she had bought three years ago in Tempe but they were in the trailer case all bundled and bungeed and very inconvenient to get to. We had to unload everything and we must have looked like a train wreck to passers by. The stems on these spares fit nicely and Rusty was the Hero of the day as he swiftly replaced the tubes. New talents of this man are emerging every day!
After roughing it completely the night before we decided to stay in a motel tonight and do laundry and enjoy a soft bed and hot shower and patch a couple of tubes. (Did I mention the flat tire on the trailer we got between Superior and Globe? It ran over all the junk in the shoulder . "We were staying on the shoulder, honest Officer")
We have a 2,000 foot climb to Silver City NM next and as hard as we have tried there is pretty much no way around it. We're taking a little R&R and then heading up that way Thursday.
Ahhhh, enjoying the journey!

I am glad that you are taking some R&R! A bed will no longer be just a bed, will it. Keep pedaling and stay safe!!!

Megan sent you a letter on Monday, March 24th. We will see how long it takes to get to you, and where.
