What a great town! Even if it has hills like Seattle!! We left our gear in the motel room and rode around the town being tourists. We did stop at the Library - the first one we have found open - and spent two hours posting on the blog. Libraries are few and far between here AND the hours are so limited that it has been very difficult to keep the blog current.
While riding in old downtown we were charmed by the great jazz music filling the air. I checked around to see where it was coming from. A restaurant? A store? A balcony? We discovered that it was being "piped in" all down main street to create a great ambiance of Southern Jazz! There are little green speakers tucked into the landscaping all along the way. It was really great! I loved it!
A man standing outside his men's clothing store recommended a restaurant if we wanted to eat like the locals. It was about four blocks UP a really steep hill but well worth the climb. Walnut Hill House. A great old southern house lock in time. We had fried chicken, meat loaf, greens, beets and cornbread with peach cobbler for dessert.
The South smells like Honeysuckle when we are riding along but wherever there is civilization there is also the smell of fried chicken!
(to be continued...I am out of time....so until the next Library...See Ya!)
